MusicBlocks -- Flex Game

Click HERE to play MusicBlocks! MusicBlocks is a game I made in Flex, using Actionscript3 with MXML. It's a classical music puzzle game...try it out :)

Thanks!

High Flyin' Fireworks

Below is a fireworks game I programmed for a touchscreen kiosk at Give Kids the World Village in Kissimmee, Florida. While first learning Flash/Actionscript3 over the summer, I had made a similar game ("Star Tapper!") which you can see further down on this page. "Star Tapper" got me started on learning a bit of physics to make this kind of interaction work, but after gaining more experience with AS3 throughout the semester, I was able to re-code it entirely (with a lot less code the second time :) and turn it into this new fireworks game. Coding the fireworks game also taught me how to insert and play external animations in Flash.

Bubble Pop

A simple bubble-popping game made for a touchscreen kiosk at Give Kids the World Village. This one is pretty popular with younger kids, and is especially fun on a touchscreen. Though seemingly simple, this one taught me a lot about physics and also about tweening effects in Flash. The bunny in the cloud is Mayor Clayton, the mascot of Give Kids the World Village.

Repeat After Me

Below is a Simon game I made for a touchscreen kiosk at Give Kids the World Village. I created a prototype of it while first learning Flash/AS3 over the summer, which you can see further down on this page ("Bunny Ears"). I re-coded the prototype later in the semester and changed a lot of the gameplay/functionality to make the final version here.

Pip's Coloring Pages

"Pip's Coloring Pages" is a re-coded version of a prototype I made earlier in the summer ("Mayor Clayton's Magical Coloring Book", which you can see further down on this page). After learning more about AS3 and programming throughout the semester, I figured out ways to rewrite the game with a lot less code, and also learned how to import/use external assets from Adobe Illustrator. Each coloring page is a different character from Give Kids the World Village.

Bunny Ears

"Bunny Ears" is a musical memory game, similar to the game "Simon." Each bunny will play a note when you click on him. Click on the star to hear the tune, then click the bunnies in the right order to match it. More notes will be added on each time...see how many you can remember! Just click the heart at any time if you want to start over with a new tune. Enjoy!

Rachelsoft Paint

Here is a small paint program I made early on while learning Flash/Actionscript. Draw free form, or click on the cat for creative suggestions! Coding this app definitely gave me a lot more admiration for the creators of Microsoft Paint :)

Star Tapper!

Click the mystery box to see what will pop out...then click the falling objects to turn them into stars before they fall off the screen. The more times you click them...the more points you get! This app is really intended to be played on a touchscreen, though you can still play it with regular mouse click interactions. See how many points you can get before the game resets! I got to learn a bit about physics through this app :)

Mayor Clayton's Magical Coloring Book

Here is a simple coloring book app I made while experimenting with different games for kids that could go on a kiosk in the lobby at Give Kids the World Village. It is themed around Mayor Clayton and Miss Merry -- two of the mascots at Give Kids the World. Have fun coloring...and don't forget to click "save" to put your picture in the treasure box when you're done :)

Word Search

Here is a small word search I made to experiment with more concepts in Actionscript/Flash. Drag the mouse over the letters to highlight the words you find. This one needs a lot more development (more levels of course), but for now it's just a small experiment I did to see how a digital word search could work out.
